Hail to the Hero

I am not sure whether it is the weather, PMS, stress or an evil combination of all 3 that has led my skin to freak out like a teenage girl's. I am religious about my skin care routine and have always been blessed with good skin except for the occasional eruption. Well, the occasional eruption has become eruptions, just in time for a weekend getaway to Boston with my husband to visit friends we haven't seen in a while.

What's a girl to do?

Enter Mario Badescu Drying Lotion.

I remember when I was introduced to the little glass bottle, with that potent smell and an interesting liquid make up. The pink sediment on the bottom and the yellowish liquid on top confused me at first.

Then I learned the proper usage. Take a Q-Tip, put it into the bottle all the way down into the sediment and lift it out. Dab the mixture onto the blemish and feel the sting. The sting is actually my favorite part because it really does feel like the product is working to rid the skin of the bacteria build-up in the pore.

And, now every time I get one of those unattractive, painful little (or big) things I hail to the hero, an old standby. No matter what else I try, I continuously return to the power of the pink.

So, tonight I will be going to bed with a face speckled with pink polka dots. Now, ain't that sexy!

A Few of My Favorite Things

Some are discovered oldies, others newer goodies. Here are some of the products I am loving now.

I'm obsessed with this red from OPI. Its an oldie that I feel I never had the proper introduction to until now. Red Hot Ayres Rock is from the Australia Collection (circa Summer 2007). It is a brilliant orange based red. It may not be the newest color but it is definitely worth discovering or rediscovering, at least until it gets cold enough to toy with Fall 2009's Here Today...Aragon tomorrow, an unexpected deep green that I have been told looks great on every skin tone...I'll let you know.

Dermalogica's Multivitamin Thermofoliant is the newest addition to their Age Smart line. I have been using it and my skin has never been so soft. The moment I rinse I can feel the smoothness. It is a self heating skin polisher that combines physical and chemical skin exfoliants to refine skin and enhance penetration of age fighting actives into the skin. It may be a bit early for self heating especially here in La La land, but I promise you won't be sorry if you try this anytime of year!

I have recently rediscovered my curls or they have rediscovered me. They say your hair changes every 7 years, well my 7 came quite quickly. With the resurgence of the curl I needed to find a product that encouraged it while eliminating frizz and inhibiting the crunch factor. TIGI's One Curl At A Time was the find. For me it works best when coupled with an oil, like Thermafuse Heat Smart Serum or a leave in like Alterna Caviar Brunette Leave In Conditioner.
