The days or nights that I am putting on more makeup than just tinted moisturizer, blush, mascara and gloss take some thinking. Since it is not that often that I delve into the land of liner and shadow, I usually try to plan my color scheme around what I am planning to wear.
My getting ready routine goes hair, makeup, wardrobe...much like the order on the photo shoots I used to produce. That however poses a challenge when it comes to eye palette picking. The problem: what if the outfit changes mid getting dressed, do you grab for something in the same color scheme or abandon the plan. I guess this all depends on how noticeable the eye color is, what level of statement it makes and if you have the time or energy to redo the eyes.
If all else fails, I stick with neutrals or metallics. The metallics however often require a plan as well, at least for me who bases metallic makeup on what jewelry I will be wearing.
Now that I have revealed my makeup induced OCD, what are your beauty compulsions?

My eyebrows and eyelashes have to be just right or I can't stand my makeup. If my eyelashes aren't perfectly curled and separated, I feel like hiding behind sunglasses.
